The Edinburgh Marathon Festival takes place on May Bank Holiday weekend, and with a new route showcasing more of Edinburgh's iconic city centre sights, it makes perfect sense to make a club weekend of it and explore what the beautiful city of Edinburgh has to offer!

The fun kicks off on Saturday May 26 at Holyrood Park with a 10k, 5K and four junior races. On Sunday May 27, the Edinburgh Marathon, Edinburgh Half Marathon and team relay start from the heart of Edinburgh City and continues through East Lothian offering stunning views and an
unforgettable running experience.

Devon Freewheelers are a team of 37 volunteer Emergency Vehicle drivers who are dedicated to providing a weekday out of hours service (17.00 – 06.00) and 24/7 weekend service supporting the NHS in delivering essential Blood, Samples, Medication and Donor Breast Milk to hospitals throughout Devon.

Otterton Reindeer Run – Saturday 2 December

Coasters travelled to East Devon to take part in the popular Reindeer Run 10k at Otterton, a record entry of around 300 runners took part in this tough multi terrain event. The course had a couple of changes this year with a big hill through farm fields at the 2 mile mark and plenty of mud on the way around. The second half of the race is mainly along the banks of the River Otter finishing back on the village green. Simon was first Coaster back in 51:44 with Andy close behind in 52:49; next Les in 57:12 with Amy hot on his heels is 57:14, John 1:04:00. All runners received the reindeer mug, free mulled wine and mince pie

Santa Run – Sunday 3 December
Was good to be back in Exeter City Centre for this year’s Santa Run, great atmosphere and so many Santa’s running.  Simon did the 5k, and then did the 1.5 mile with Pam, also running Pat, Corrie and Freddie.  Then all to Weatherspoon’s for breakfast

Race for Light – Saturday 9 December
Simon and Laraine took part in this event at Mothercombe Bay on Saturday evening, superbly organised by Pure Trail Running, the 300 runners had to run mainly in the dark so head torches were mandatory.  The race started on the beach then crossed the estuary in ice cold knee deep water, followed by 8.5 miles around the Flete estate comprising of thick muddy woodland paths, including 3 big hills before heading back to Mothercombe Bay, another ice cold river estuary crossing before heading back to the finish line. Laraine finished in 1:31:14 and Simon 1:32:39.  All runners received a pure trail buff

Bovington Tank Museum Half Marathon – Sunday 17 December
Simon travelled to Dorset to take on the Bovington ultra half marathon, this 16.5 event which starts and finishes at the Tank Museum is a popular but tough event organised by Whitestar Running.  700 runners started the race in freezing conditions and endure 2,200 feet of ascent with lots of mud and plenty of river crossings. Simon completed the 16.5 miles in 2:41. The medal the runners get is amazing, also a bottle of beer and buff

Wyvern Wander – Sunday 31 December
Simon travelled to South Wales to take on the Wyvern Wander 5 mile off road event in Chepstow on New Year’s Eve. This new race attracted a field of 245 runners, the race which was totally off road with plenty of mud and tough climbs along the scenic Wye Valley, Simon  completed the race in 49:08 finishing in 96th place overall. All runners received a medal and cake.
